The 2020 US election is scheduled to be held on 3rd November 2020. The president of the states is the most powerful who not only has the United states in his hands, but is also someone who plays a dominant role in the world.
With the dates approaching, the heat about who is going to be the next president is rising.
Is it going to be the republicans Trump-Pence who will make America great again or will it be the democrats Biden- Harris?
The whole world is eagerly waiting to see how it goes. The tug of war between the republican party and the democratic party is becoming more and more intense.
Keeping aside these two major parties, the US presidential election 2020 also has many other parties and individual candidates such as the Libertarian party, Green party etc. However, like always, their impact is negligible.
Joe Biden was leading Donald Trump in the national polls. But that doesn’t guarantee the democratic victory. In the past, Hillary too had a clear lead over Trump, but ended up losing the electoral college.
The first presidential debate 2020 was aimed to address six key aspects including the coronavirus, the economy, the supreme court, race and violence in American cities, Trump’s and Biden’s records, and the integrity of the elections.
The discussion didn’t offer much novel information on any of the urgent topics. However, it did leave many of us with new questions to ask ourselves. The debate has been described as a “hot mess”. It saw the two candidates going against each other in ridiculous manner with so much of attacking and interruptions.
We hear somany phrases that the candidates said which left the audience in a state of uncertainty. Let it be when the Vice President Joe Biden was like “Donald would you just be quiet for a minute.”, “You’re not going to be able to shut him up” , “This is so un-Presidential.” Or when President Donald J. Trump said “Well, first of all, I guess I’m debating you, not him, but that’s okay. I’m not surprised.” , “He doesn’t want to answer the question.” …..… I wonder what was going on in the minds of the public. The straight forward slamming was extreme . However, I guess we just got used to it now. Not really of a surprise anymore. What more could we expect out of these two candidates? Lol!
One of the most highlighting moments was when the presidential candidates were accusing each other of lies. Let’s take a look at some of the fiery words:
Joe Biden: Because here’s the deal, here’s the deal. The fact is that everything he’s saying so far is simply a lie. I’m not here to call out his lies. Everybody knows he’s a liar.,
Donald J. Trump: But you agree. Joe, you’re the liar. You graduated last in your class, not first in your class.
Chris Wallace: Mr. President, can you let him finish, sir?
Joe Biden: No, he doesn’t know how to do that.
Donald J. Trump: You’d be surprised. You’d be surprised. Go ahead, Joe.
Joe Biden: The wrong guy, the wrong night, at the wrong time.
What a conversation it was! Oops! did I just use the term conversation? Well, probably calling it the “hot mess” would sound more appropriate.
The two opponents were pretty bold in making their statements. The strength in their words is very noteworthy and remarkable.
When Biden talked about allowing people to have private insurance still, President Donald J. Trump contradicted that the democratic party doesn’t say it and wants to go socialist medicine and socialist health care, the former vice president made bold statements -“The party is me. Right now, I am the Democratic Party.”
Well what does that mean? Joe’s tone was extremely arrogant and pompous. Wonder how the party would have interpreted this man’s words.
While talking about the pandemic, president Trump directly striked on Biden when he said “And if you were here, it wouldn’t be 200, it would be two million people because you were very late on the draw. You didn’t want me to ban China, which was heavily infected. You didn’t want me to ban Europe.”
Well if we actually think about the words that splashed out of the president’s mouth, we can’t really accept or deny…it’s a matter of America’s fate. Let’s not assume or judge Joe’s performance in handling the situation…because we never know how things would have turned out.
At a particular point, President Donald J. Trump smacks Joe Biden and says “he wants to close down the… He will shut it down again. He will destroy this country.”
Did Trump just directly convey that Joe is useless and he will be of no worth as a president and voting in favour of the democratic candidate is going to destroy the country? Well that’s what an opponent would do!
Have a glance at some of the intense dialogues exchanged between the presidential candidates:
Joe Biden: You’re the worst president America has ever had. Come on.
Donald J. Trump: Hey, Joe, let me just tell you, Joe. In 47 months, I’ve done more than you’ve done in 47 years, Joe. We’ve done things that you never even thought of doing.
Oh my god! I must say that the two of them have mastered the art of direct insulting. Wonder how the people of the united states are going to choose their leader among the two.
What’s the final conclusion? To be honest, the first presidential debate has not given the public clarity, but has pushed them into more confusion. Let’s wait and watch if the current incumbent Donald Trump will continue with his next term as a president or will Joe Biden be successful in his run to make Trump free America.
